lyrics
Deep down it's all decided.
No mask you put on will hide it.
Benevolence, far from out of reach.
Slowly getting closer, in range of deeds.
Just a little further, almost close to the touch.
Then hesitate, doubt and retreat.
Now the earth starts shaking, all confidence is lost.
Cracks below, the birth of a canyon.
Split the soil in two
Tear a gap wide open
Swallowed by the ground
No path to walk upon
Cliffs emerge, old routes vanish.
From aimless walking to constant falling.
Now reconsider, drop all ambitions,
set a new goal, just make it out of here.
Split the soil in two
Tear a gap wide open
Swallowed by the ground
No path to walk upon
Longing for a grip, as the earth parts, fear in charge.
Clawing at the rocks, nowhere to hold on to, nails bleeding.
All out of breath, fatigue overwhelming, giving in.
Gaze into the deep, cripple the mind, just stasis.
Gravity at work, picking up pace, pulled downward.
Just before impact, black out and faint, unconsciousness.
Deep down, all’s been decided.
No thud, still not at the bottom.
Split the soil in two
Tear a gap wide open
Swallowed by the ground
No path to walk upon

The flac version of this sounds great in my truck... not a crunch, clip or boom to be heard. That, in itself, gets this major points.
This is a lovely combination of early Floyd, U2 and a few San Francisco bands from the '60s with a heavy dose of Helmet tossed in. It's definitely best of breed when it comes to modern psych stuff. Even without a Hammond B3, it gets an easy A+... rick-taylor

I've always been on the fence about Elder. The musicianship was always there but it never clicked. Omens and Innate Passage have certainly changed that. QNdNas7kQgBG5fi
The Long Island metal band's third album etches arena-sized hooks into their jagged compositions, deftly balancing experimental and poppy inclinations. Bandcamp Album of the Day May 12, 2022
